Summary: Chapters 11-15

Chapter 11:
It is dark the next morning at the bus stop. At school, workmen are installing stadium lights throughout the campus. The sun finally rises at lunchtime. At the same time the sun comes up, Julia notices a girl that looks just like Hanna. She discovers that it is Hanna but is surprised that Hanna had not told her they were back. When Julia asks Hanna why she wasn't at the bus stop, Hanna tells her that she spent the night at Tracey's house. Tracey walks up with lunch for herself and Hanna. They are wearing identical outfits. Tracey and Hanna walk off together when the bell rings. At soccer practice, Hanna barely speaks to Julia. Julia invites Hanna over but she declines the invitation. Julia remembers the way that Hanna had treated the girl who had been Hanna's best friends at one point.


Chapter 12:
There were people who were refusing the clock time. It wasn't obvious who were those who didn't follow clock time. Julia had piano lesson with Sylvia and Sylvia have Julia an envelope to give to her mother. The letter said that Sylvia couldn't be her piano teacher. Julia's mother want to get Julia a new piano teacher but Julia doesn't want one. People around her neighborhood would put signs saying "THIS HOUSEHOLD LIVES ON REAL TIME."

Chapter 13:
The first few weeks on clock time, sales of prescription sleeping pills spiked. Sales on alcohol and cigarettes also increase which also mean a big market for harder drugs too. Julia's mother has insomnia, but her father slept fine. The birds continued to suffer. Seth and Julia meet again and try to say a bird. Daryl is being a jerk and trying to hurt to bird and he did. Daryl threw the bird over a cliff and than Seth and him got into an argument. Seth stopped coming to school because his mothers cancer was getting worst.

Chapter 14:
The days have reached 40 hours long. While the sun is out, the street becomes too hot to walk on barefoot. During the nights, frost comes, killing grapes and avocadoes. About six weeks after the slowing began, the hour counts for each day begin to drop off the newscasts. Those who follow real time continue along their chosen paths but they are considered freaks by those who follow clock time. Sylvia, and Tom and Carlotta are left out of the neighborhood block party. Their trees are toilet papered. When the people learn the Kaplan family has been keeping real time for the sake of their Sabbath, this family is also shunned. Julia watches Sylvia through her telescope as she goes about her days. She believes Sylvia looks even sadder and lonelier than Julia is.
Chapter 15
It was in the middle of the night and police officers were all over Julia's neighbors house. Julia saw Tom and Carlotta being arrested. There was a rumor that they were growing and selling maijurana.
